400% — Medicom Toy x Royal Selangor, Solid Pewter

Overview

The BE@RBRICK Royal Selangor Arabesque Golden is a special-edition collaboration between Japanese toymaker Medicom Toy and Malaysian pewter specialist Royal Selangor, reimagining the collectible BE@RBRICK figure in solid, gold-plated pewter. The 400% scale figure is engraved edge to edge with an intricate arabesque metalwork pattern, a technique drawn directly from Royal Selangor’s heritage pewter craftsmanship, giving the piece a lavish, fully worked gold surface rather than a simple plated finish. Now sold out at retail, it is presented sealed in its original Royal Selangor packaging.

Heritage & Detailing

Medicom Toy, founded in Tokyo in 1996, created the BE@RBRICK figure in 2001, and it has since become one of the most widely collaborated-with collectible platforms in design, partnering with fashion houses, artists and heritage brands across a huge range of limited releases. Royal Selangor, founded in Kuala Lumpur in 1885, is the world’s largest pewter manufacturer and one of Malaysia’s best-known heritage craft houses, long recognised for hand-finished pewter homeware and collectibles.

This Arabesque Golden edition brought those two houses together, applying Royal Selangor’s traditional arabesque metal engraving technique across the full surface of the BE@RBRICK form in gold-plated pewter. The result sits at the intersection of Japanese designer-toy culture and Malaysian metalworking heritage, and the release has since sold out through Royal Selangor’s own retail channels.

Why RareFind Rates This Piece as Rare & Collectable

RareFind rates this as a highly collectable designer collaboration piece. This Arabesque Golden edition is now sold out through Royal Selangor’s own retail channels, making a sealed example genuinely difficult to source. As a solid gold-plated pewter piece rather than simply painted resin, it carries real material value alongside its designer-toy collectability, appealing to both BE@RBRICK collectors and fine pewter collectors alike. A striking, sealed centrepiece for any serious collection.
