The Boys was created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson in 2006 as a savage, R-rated deconstruction of the superhero genre, launched at DC’s WildStorm imprint before its content led DC to drop the title after six issues. Dynamite Entertainment picked the series up and carried it through to its acclaimed conclusion, and has continued reprinting the original run in the years since — demand fuelled further by the breakout success of the Amazon Prime Video adaptation.

This copy is one of Dynamite’s reprint editions of issue #1, carrying an exclusive painted cover by InHyuk Lee produced specifically for Fan Expo 2022 rather than sold through standard retail channels. Lee is known for his cinematic, hyper-detailed painted style on covers across DC, Marvel, and independent titles, and his convention-exclusive work is consistently sought after by variant-cover collectors.

Encapsulated by CBCS in a Signature Series (yellow label) holder and graded 9.8 with white pages. The InHyuk Lee signature on the cover is independently witnessed and certified by CBCS as authentic, dated 8/26/2022. The slab shows a bright, unmarked cover with sharp corners and a square spine, consistent with the near-pristine 9.8 grade.

This cover was a Fan Expo 2022 convention exclusive, never sold through general retail, which limits supply to whatever allocation the show and its pre-orders carried. The CBCS-witnessed InHyuk Lee signature gives buyers independently certified proof of authenticity, adding meaningful collector value on top of the 9.8 grade alone.
